The County Government of Tharaka Nithi is banking on transport infrastructure projects to spur economic growth, create employment and improve the business environment following the gazetting of Kathwana as a municipality.
Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki on Wednesday revealed that his administration was focused on improving the road network in Kathwana to accelerate free flow of goods and services hence spurring economic growth.
“With the launch of approved spatial plan, we have commissioned the tarmacking of Kathwana Town roads. The plan in addition paves way for construction of official residences of the governor, deputy governor and the County Assembly Speaker within the municipality geared towards supporting the development of Kathwana City.” Governor Njuki said.
Speaking when he unveiled a fleet of road equipment including excavators, dozers and other service vehicles and machinery, Governor Njuki added that the County administration was set to construct a modern market in Kathwana as well as a state-of-the-art multipurpose social hall, public officers housing and a club.
