Vegetable sellers, bodaboda riders, shop owners and other professionals in Isiolo County have joined hands to establish a cooperative dubbed Mfinyanzi Sacco.
Chairperson Lucy Wanjiru says the sacco seeks to enhance financial inclusion in the county and alleviate many who still leave in poverty.
According to founders, Mfinyanzi Sacco is geared towards helping its members to tackle poverty through prudent savings and offering loans to enable them to open or expand their businesses.
The Sacco founded this year is conducting recruitment drive in the larger Isiolo County targeting low-income earners among stall owners, grocers, bodaboda riders, farmers, livestock keepers, professionals like teachers among others.
According to the chairperson Lucy Wanjiru the idea to establish Mfinyanzi Sacco was necessitated by challenges that members of the community were facing when seeking to open or expand their small businesses, especially young people who hire bodabodas with intentions to own their own.
The sacco has also been backed to help united various ethnic groups in the county.
