Police in Isiolo on Wednesday intercepted and recovered 36 camels believed to have been stolen from Sabarwawa in Merti sub-county and were on transit to Nairobi for sale.
Police also arrested two people in connection with the stolen camel and are set to be arraigned in court.
Confirming the incident, Isiolo County Police Commander Joseph Kigen said the police acting on a tip-off nabbed the duo at Gambela area in Isiolo as they transported the animals using a trailer to Nairobi.
He added that police are continuing with investigations to identify others involved in the incident.
Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti lauded the response by the police and urged residents to continue working with the police to improve the security in the area.
“Let’s keep cooperating with the police by volunteering information about what is happening around us. I want to sincerely thank the police for their quick response and recovery of the Camels.” Governor Kuti said.
