Employees of the county Government of Isiolo will soon start working under performance contracts in a bid to better service delivery.
Speaking during the State of the County address, Isiolo Governor Dr. Mohammed Kuti revealed that from July 2019, Directors and other members of staff will have to sign performance appraisals with negotiated and agreed upon terms.
According to Kuti, the move will quantify, measure and determine every staff assignment, duties and responsibilities for rewards and sanctions as well as ensure that those tasked with various duties deliver on their mandate as envisioned.
“Starting July 2019, My Administration will cascade the same to the Directors and all staff members through Staff Appraisal System where each and every staff will be placed on negotiated and agreed upon targets that will be backed by the individual work plans.” Governor Kuti said.
Currently, only CECs and Chief Officers have signed the performance appraisals.
The announcement comes days after the national government announced plans to hire civil servants on contract terms in a bid to enhance productivity and reduce the wage bill.
